First task on the agenda this past weekend? Attend a wedding for a good friend of my family on Friday night.
Yes, it is challenging for us to take respectable pictures together |
We don't have cable, so even when games are aired on ESPN/ABC, we still have to head to the bar. Usually not a big deal... Except when ESPN decides a few days before the game to re-draw the coverage map for the game. Long story short--GT was playing at the same time as #6 Stanford vs. USC, and when the original coverage map was released, the GT game had nation-wide coverage except for the West Coast. Well, Tech then decided to drop two games in a row to unranked teams, which caused them to drop out of the rankings themselves--and caused ESPN to decide that the Stanford game needed more national coverage. So, after a quick dinner, we headed home to listen to the game online, and we were actually able to do one better.
We discovered that through our internet provider, we have free access to ESPN3 online, which usually covers games that are blacked-out in certain areas due to coverage. AKA--they were carrying the Tech game. The picture quality was great (thank you flat-screen computer monitor), the drinks were cheaper, and the seats more comfortable. We might secretly be hoping that the remainder of Tech's games are covered on ESPN3--although since they decided to up and beat #5 Clemson (BAM!), they're back in the rankings and more likely to get full national coverage. I guess that's not a total loss...
The best thing I have to say about this coming weekend? Extra hour of sleep baby! We're seriously going to need it--we've got stuff Friday night (starting RIGHT after we get off work), stuff pretty much all day Saturday (including the face-off between #1 LSU and #2 Alabama--go 'Bama!), and stuff at and after church on Sunday. It'll all be over before I know it--which is unfortunate, because I've really been enjoying my slow, relaxing weekends!
