Whelp. In my defense, I had this post typed up by December 19th, but I was waiting for Darrell to get the photo edited. And then the holidays happened... And getting the post published kept getting pushed to the back burner. But, I think we're finally through the holiday chaos and starting to fall back into a routine, so time to finally get this published. And hey--at least it's before he's four months old, right?
Height/Weight: No doctor's visits this past month (yay!), but based on my scale at home Connor is up to nearly fifteen pounds (say what?!?). He seems to be growing longer plenty quickly as well, as evidenced by the fact that some of his six month pants are starting to get a little too short.
Wearing: Still in size two diapers, although I'm thinking he'll have those outgrown before we get through all the ones we have. Good thing it's pretty easy to swap out for a larger size at Target. He's definitely starting to fill out his 3-6 month and 6 month outfits, especially anything that is more fitted around the waist/stomach (he's a chunky monkey for sure!)
Eating: I think we've started to figure out the bottle issue. We switched to a nipple that is less like his pacifier, and if we wait until he is fully hungry to offer it then he'll usually take it with no issue. If he is even the least bit tired (especially around bedtime), he only wants milk if it comes from Momma. Thankfully, though, in those instances he'll settle down pretty easily with his pacifier, and once he gets a couple hours of sleep under his belt he'll wake up and take a bottle like he's been doing it his whole life. Otherwise he nurses at least every three hours during the day--usually closer to two--and typically gets up twice a night.
Sleep: Naps in the swing have gotten a little more difficult as he's become more aware of his surroundings, so we've been trying naps in his crib periodically. He usually goes down pretty easily, although he's usually awake after thirty minutes or less. He had been sleeping like a rockstar at night--rough seven to seven with one wakeup--but sadly that has gotten worse because he outgrew his swaddle and we're too lazy (and cheap) to buy a bigger size, especially since he will ultimately have to learn to sleep without one anyway. And really, he's only been waking up one additional time (most nights) and goes back down pretty easily after a relatively short nursing session, so it's not as bad as it could be.
New Stuff: The holidays have been in full swing, and our schedules have been nothing but packed. Connor celebrated his first Thanksgiving (with a Vikings win!) as well as a trip to Mitchell to celebrate with my mom's side of the family. His smiles, giggles, and even some belly laughs are in full force; most of the time he's a very happy and smiley kid (even when his brothers are crawling all over him, which we can't figure out why he enjoys that). However, he will usually get a little fussy when it's time for him to go poop, because unlike his brothers who pooped after (what seemed like) every feeding, he will frequently go four or five days without pooping, so it's usually more of a production when it does come. Thankfully, though, we've had way fewer blowouts because of this; the infrequent stooling means they are thicker and therefore not nearly as explosive (also thankfully, the first time he had a thick stool like this was at the doctor's office, who assured us that it was well within the realm of normal, despite being drastically different from our other boys). He's really starting to grasp at stuff and has become very good at tracking objects. At the beginning of December he rolled from tummy to back, although he hasn't done that again since so I'm guessing it was mostly a fluke. He also had his first non-family sitter (waaaay earlier than his brothers did #thirdchildproblems) so we could go to a Christmas party--and he'll be having one again in early January ('tis the season!)--and aside from his pickiness with his bottle he did pretty well (although our friends joked that it was a good reminder to them to get the husband's vasectomy scheduled, so maybe he wasn't as good as they told us!).
