Day in the Life: August 21st

7:00 It's fine. We're definitely not still getting our backpacks ready less than an hour before the first day of school

8:00 First Day of School hack: Avoid the chaos in the parking lot and bike

9:00 Super excited to deal with a broken dishwasher

10:00 I have the best friends who got me champagne and chocolate to celebrate (or mourn) all the boys heading off to school (for the record--it was mostly celebratory)

11:00 Running errands solo... Definitely a new experience

12:00 Although now I have to get all the groceries in by myself instead of having a little helper

1:00 Also nice to get stuff taken care of at church with a little tagalong

2:00 Headed to pickup!

3:00 Snacks were definitely needed after the first day of school

4:00 Attempting to recreate an art project Connor did in his classroom

5:00 Back to school means back to soccer which means early dinners so Coach and the player(s) can get to practice by 6:00

6:00 Knocking out a PTO project while the boys get some more biking in

7:00 LEGO fun

8:00 Time for bed so we can be ready for school again tomorrow!

9:00 Darrell hard at work washing alllll the dishes (and using the broken dishwasher as a drying rack) while I'm hard a working making more dishes dirty to make some treats for church

10:00 Not having a working dishwasher really slows down our evening routine

11:00 Cheers to a great first day of school for all the boys!

Off to bed and ready to do it again tomorrow

Day in the Life: July 21st

Rise and shine!

7:00 Nothing like getting my workout out of the way first thing in the morning

8:00 Still in disbelief that I live in a house where the piano is constantly played just for fun

9:00 'Tis the summer of diamond gems

10:00 Always someone who needs their nails trimmed

11:00 Scouting out locations for our family camping trip in August

12:00 Lunch time

1:00 We watched lots of movies this summer thirty minutes at a time

2:00 And we also spent lots of time working on our Summer Bridge Books--first time all four boys had one to complete!

3:00 Love us the Kids Bowl Free program

4:00 How great is it to bowl two games for free every day?!?

5:00 Dinner prep!

6:00 Dinner clean up

7:00 Snack time

8:00 All the diamond gems

9:00 This boy and that spot on the couch got really familiar with each other this summer

10:00 Still trying to figure out where we're going to camp... Apparently booking campsite reservations a month ahead of time means that options are limited

11:00 Getting ready to call it quits for tonight

Goodnight!

Day in the Life: June 21st

Time to rise and shine, even if it is summer!

8:00 At the lake but....

9:00 Headed off to a parade for the morning

10:00 A HOT parade. So hot

11:00 The boys collected a pretty decent haul at the parade (in addition to get soaked multiple times by groups that made the wise choice to incorporate squirt guns on their floats!)

12:00 Enjoying a lunch with other Shriners

1:00 Back at the lake

2:00 And soooo ready to get in the water

3:00 All the water activities

4:00 Seriously such a perfect day to be in the water

5:00 Trying to find the fish that are *hopefully* beating the heat in the shade of the pontoon

6:00 Prepping cinnamon rolls for breakfast!

7:00 Hungry boys ready for snack after a full day of sun and water

8:00 Zero complaints about setting down for bedtime

9:00 When the kids are in bed the adults will play (and when it's just my parents and us "whist" is the game we play. The aces are good--the lack of other face cards to help the aces is not good)

10:00 Same story, another hand, an hour later. Not a super enjoyable night of whist with hands like these

Considering there are some nights we have only played a hand or two by this point, calling it a night and heading to bed before eleven after a full game is pretty darn good!
